Origins

Zawierce, Poland. In 2016 I traveled to the town of Zawierce, where my mom was born. I photographed the apartment building where her family used to live, the streets nearby, and what remains of the synagogue in her neighborhood. In 1943, my mom and my grandparents fled to Vienna by way of Berlin, assuming false identities. They survived the war in Vienna. The majority of her family that stayed in Poland perished.
